Fall Fall

The Highlands is a photographers and painters paradise, where mother nature does her best for one last fling with beautiful colours. She outdoes herself with the splendor of scarlet, golds, browns and crimson colours mixed with a dash of evergreens. The best colours in Ontario are to be found in the Highlands. It's a great little hill nestled amongst the trees offering a great ride for the young and the not so young. Plus it's lit for night time fun. Plastic toboggans and snowtubes are available for rent.

"CROSS COUNTRY SKIING"
With always lots of snow, you may leave right from your cottage and ski around Sandy Lane, or try a little lake skiing on Halls Lake. Just 10 km north are the Leslie Frost classic ski trails or 15km east the skating trails of the New Moose Woods Centre. Whichever trail system ski on the nicest and best groomed x-country ski trails in Ontario.

"ALPINE SKIING-SNOWBOARDING"
We are just 35km away from Sir Sam's ski hill, with slopes for beginners and challenging slopes for the experienced. Accommodation and Ski Packages Available.

Travel North on Hwy. 35 to Hwy 60, then west to Huntsville and you will arrive at the Hidden Valley Ski Club, only 60 km away from Sandy Lane. Skis and snowboards are available for rent at Sir Sam's and Hidden Valley.


"SNOWMOBILING" Sandy Lane is right in the heart of snowmobiling counrty, which receives over 100 inches of snow annually. Sandy Lane has directed land based trail access to the Haliburton County Snowmobile Trails which interconnected with the Tall Pines Trails out of Dorest and the Happy Wanders Trail Network out of Bracebridge. For a different ride, experience the trails of Haliburton Forest, a 60,000 acre private wilderness, which is only a short ride from Sandy Lane by snowmobile or by road. Just leave your cottage and go in any direction for a hour, half day, or a full day on land based trails. See trail conditions on the HCSA site and on the OFSC site and see weather conditions at www.weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca. Upon arrival we will supply you with trail maps of the area so you may go out and enjoy the breath taking beauty of the Haliburton Highlands. Guided Snowmobile Packages Available mid-week.
