Springtime is the best time year to see the larger animals of the Highlands, bears, moose and deer, especially in the internationally known Algonquin Park (www.algonquinpark.on.ca).

The making of Maple Syrup is a true sign that spring has arrived. As the days warm in March, the sap from the maple trees start to flow. Wintergreen Sugar Shack and Pancake House on County Road 21 just outside of Gelert is in full swing in the production of Maple Syrup.

Visit the towns of Dorset; Minden and Haliburton, which are no more than thirty minute, drives from Sandy Lane.
