Renting the entire property is the simplest way to run a reunion at a family resort in Ontario, and we offer it outright: exclusive use of the beach, the grounds and the banquet hall, with no strangers to work around when children start a game of tag at dusk. Between beds and sofa beds, the cottages hold up to 70 adults and 30 children, and the hall seats 140.
Taking the whole property also settles dinner. Every cottage has a full kitchen and a deck with a propane barbecue, but our Restaurant and Bar runs a breakfast and dinner meal plan, and the banquet hall can take one evening off your hands entirely.
2. Match the Family Reunion Ideas to the Season
Our resort in Ontario can host a family reunion in February as easily as July, with plenty of fun activities each season. Our seasonal activity pages go deeper, but here is the short version:
Summer at the Lake: A gradual walkout into the water for the toddlers, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and pedal boats at the beach, and 1,300 acres of bass, walleye and trout once you have checked the fishing regulations.
Autumn in the Highlands: Colour peaks in the first two weeks of October, with a golden second wave the week after. Check the county’s live colour report before you go, and note that the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower closes for the season in mid-October. Algonquin Park is a 40-minute drive.
Winter on the Property: A natural skating rink lit for night skating with skates provided, a toboggan hill with toboggans and tubes included, and rentals for cross-country skis, snowshoes and ice-fishing.
Spring at Halls Lake: Our quietest weeks, with maple syrup season running into April across the county. For some spring adventure, the ATV trails are on the doorstep
